The awards are divided into nine categories, as follows, with the judges also putting category winners forward for the Best in Show award:
Awards categories
Derbyshire Creative Business of the Year
Fusing the demands of the business world with the spark of ideas is a big challenge. The winner of this award will have successfully dovetailed its creative energy with solid commercial nous, and will have made an impressive impact and raised the profile of Derbyshire in the process.
Architecture & Interior Design
Derbyshire boasts a wealth of businesses involved in the design of buildings, interior spaces and exteriors. We are looking for a business that has created inspiring and enduring works in this medium, whether in Derbyshire or beyond.
Digital Media
(including Web Design, Digital Campaigns, Social Media etc)
CIN is looking forward to receiving entries from businesses in Derbyshire responsible for cutting-edge digital media and/or technology that have made a big noise in the creative world and beyond.
Music, Performing Arts & Live Event
(including Musicians, Theatre, Live Art/Events & Dance)
This category encompasses dance, musicians & producers, record labels, theatre companies, performers, and the organisation of live events. We’ll turn the spotlight on a Derbyshire project involved in any or all of these areas that has carved out an impressive name for itself through outstanding work, whether in Derbyshire or elsewhere.
Photography & Film (lens based media)
Film and photography is booming in the East Midlands, and Derbyshire projects are impressively active in this area. The winner of this category will have created a striking lens-based project in Derbyshire that has made waves in the county and beyond.
Arts & Crafts
(including Glass, Ceramics, Textiles, etc)
This award gives Derbyshire’s arts & crafts businesses the opportunity to showcase their works and abundant talent. We’re looking for an individual or business that can demonstrate a combination of artistic ability and commercial awareness, taking arts & crafts from a Derbyshire studio to the world at large.
Graphics Design Or Illustration
The number of design agencies and illustrators in Derbyshire is testament to the importance this sector has on the region as a whole. We’re looking for a business or individual whose visionary visual work has breathed life and energy into a brief for its clients and reached out successfully to a wider audience in the process.
Gaming
Derbyshire has been recognised as a mecca for games development ever since Lara Croft came out of nappies. We’re looking forward to receiving entries from a Derbyshire business that has asserted itself and made an impact in this evolving market, whether through software console, mobile, online, or other games.
Marketing Campaign
We have a great mix of young and established marketing agencies which produce work for a vast array of projects & clients. We are looking for a marketing campaign originated in Derbyshire which is innovative, clear in its aims and objectives, that has delivered its message effectively and succesfully.
Best Individual or Team
Whether working alone, or as a team, it takes a special kind of alchemy to drive a creative business. If you can demonstrate that you have overcome personal adversity to make your mark as an individual sole trader, or brought together a very special team in a fresh and innovative way, we look forward to hearing about your story.
Submissions (priced at just £25 per application for members or £50 for non members*) need to be in by 6th September. The awards ceremony will be held at QUAD in Derby on 21st September where Wayne Hemingway will be the host for the evening. SUBMIT YOUR ENTRY
