CIN Awards Entry Criteria - 2010

Applicants must describe their activity or product in no more than 750 words and should demonstrate their achievements against the following criteria:

1. Outstanding Achievement

Projects must demonstrate outstanding achievement in their particular field. You may choose to demonstrate this in some of the following ways:

  • Recognition by Peers – This could include commendations from peers in your sector and may include awards, reviews, articles, journals, endorsement etc
  • Recognition by Community served – This could include commendations from the community affected by your work and may include reviews, articles, endorsements etc
  • Distance Travelled – Your activity may have surpassed its original goals, achieved more than expected or may have made very small steps into particularly challenging areas.

2. Demonstrable Business Growth

Projects must show that there has been measurable business growth. These could be realised in terms of:

  • Financial growth – increased turnover or financial capacity
  • Jobs growth – increased number of people employed as a result of the project
  • Geographical growth – serving a wider area than previously
  • Client Growth – increased number of clients served

3. Innovation

The project must demonstrate innovation using creativity. This could include:

  • Adoption of an innovative approach which demonstrates the use of creativity to solve a clear business problem.
  • Particular innovation in the field or sector in which the project sits. This may involve commendations or simply demonstrative innovation using creativity in a business environment.

4. Impact on Derby’s Creativity

The CIN Awards celebrate creativity. You should demonstrate how your project has contributed to the promotion of creativity in the Derby area and what impact you project has had within the region.
