02.02.10 Using Social Media in Business: A Powerpoint Presentation by Rob Wilmot

Speaker profile
Rob Wilmot

Rob co-founded Freeserve in 1998, leaving the business in 2001 after seeing it through flotation and eventual £1.6bn sale to Wanadoo. It was whilst building Freeserve that Rob first became interested in social media (it just wasn’t called that back then.) Now, as a director of Quba, BCS Public Relations new media partners, Rob evangelises about social media and helps clients navigate the possibilities and potential pitfalls of this social phenomenon.

Social Media
Social media offers a fantastic opportunity to engage with target audiences; building meaningful and profitable relationships, improving customer service and increasing brand recognition and loyalty.
Using plain English to cut through the noise and hype, Rob Wilmot will explain the social media phenomenon and offer advice on how you can harness the power of social networks and online communities.

Topics covered will include:
• An introduction to social media for marketers and why it’s relevant to you right now
• How to engage in the social media ‘conversation’ including building personality and the importance of tone of voice
• The agility and cost effectiveness of social media marketing when compared with traditional marketing channels
• Monitoring and gauging return on investment.
