The creative industries are crucial to the British economy. As policymakers look towards economic recovery one key challenge for the sector is to make sure that growth benefits everyone – particularly individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds.
For example, many people enter creative industry jobs through unpaid internships. These can be both socially and geographically inequitable, with individuals lacking strong networks finding it difficult to access desirable roles.
