Derbyshire Contracts Advice Network is a partnership project led by Links: the Chesterfield and North East Derbyshire Council for Voluntary Service & Action Ltd.

Derbyshire CAN (Contracts Advice Network)

Partners include North Derbyshire Voluntary Action, Derbyshire Rural Community Council, South Derbyshire CVS, Southern Derbyshire Voluntary Sector Mental Health Forum, Groundwork Derby and Derbyshire.

The project will run from Autumn 2007 to Summer 2012. It is funded by the Big Lottery BASIS programme.

The aims are to increase the financial resources of voluntary and community sector and infrastructure groups by helping them win contracts, and to increase the skills and knowledge in the sector about procurement.

The Derbyshire Contracts Advice Network employs
• a Management Adviser – Sandra Pink
• a Social Economy Adviser – Diane Sheppard/John Chell
• an ICT Support Worker – Martin Conlan

The team is based at Links but are willing to visit groups anywhere in Derbyshire (including Derby City).

• give one to one support for smaller, local VCS providers
• mentor infrastructure advisers about procurement technicalities
• provide training events, forums & seminars
• work pro-actively with BME & rural groups
• support a providers network to encourage consortia and subcontracting arrangements
• explore links with other services and projects
• share best practice from regional and national initiatives
